        How It Works

Book of IS: College Edition is a multi-component program you complete for or alongside your student. The mission: transfer all the important stuff in your head or files to them so it's understood. You won't be there on campus to help, and you could be unreachable in an emergency.

        Guidebook

Before you start, our guidebook walks through the program, why it's important, and various ways to utilize and find value in it.

        Workbook

Complete the workbook in your choice of formats: fillable Microsoft Word doc (email to your student) or print and handwrite (then bind).

        Checklists

A dozen thoughtful checklists are provided across four themes: Ready for Anything, Caring for Yourself, Home Away From Home, Move-in Day.

        Support

The program is generously supported by its creators: helpful Loom videos (that walk you through how to do it), email, group calls.

        Legal Video Series

We also pivot for legal considerations from retired attorney Richard A. Lustgarten. Videos are available on-demand in our course library.

College life gets tricky fast. Cultivate their practical know-how and confidence, plus your peace of mind.

        Remember What Really Matters.

It's easy to get hooked on shopping for the dorm room. But those are just things. Think about the truly important moments ahead. We all want our children to be safe, aware, empowered, and definitely not stumbling into tricky situations they can't navigate. Real consequences could be at stake. Don't let regret form.
Book of IS: College Edition is a self-guided preparedness course from Hey Ready that's easy to start and readies you for college (both parent and student). The 'IS" stands for 'important stuff.' Created by two moms and a dad with a passion for higher education.

        Preparing is Caring.

Invest in Book of IS: College Edition to transform mindsets and readiness for the otherwise nervy transition to college life ahead.

        Awareness.

This material covers all the "important stuff" (the IS in BOOK OF IS) your student will need to ensure a smooth and fruitful progression through collegiate life.

        Knowledge.

The program is brought to you by Robin and Ann, a college mom and her mom, two career educators. Lessons are easy to appreciate and adopt, plus quick to impact.

        Peace of Mind.

Countless hours and sleepless nights were spent compiling these tips and plans (so you don't have to). It's thoughtfully designed, value-priced, and rewards generously.

We've Been Where You Are Now.

Like you, I'm a proud collegiate mama. My daughter goes to Wake Forest University.

School has always been important to my family, as I'm sure it is for you. My Bachelor's and Master's degrees are both in Education. I served the American Federation of Teachers for several years, a union where I led advocacy efforts to raise the standards of achievement and conduct in public schools. I was inspired to this calling by my mom (Ann), a career teacher whose thoughtful lessons and preparation have guided nearly every aspect of my life (and so many others she helped). You'll meet my dad, a retired attorney, for his discussion of legal considerations for college.

But what you wouldn't know from our bios is that we also know a little something about navigating difficult challenges. For example, my mom is a cancer survivor and I recovered from a scary blood clot in 2022. What got us through these and other trials in life is doing every last thing we can, checking all the boxes, and a steadfast belief in all the wonderful moments the future holds.

College is an exciting time. We're thrilled to help you and your family in small and big ways just ahead. Thank you for that trust.

        — ROBIN + ANN
